Raimundo Figueroa
Raimundo Figueroa (b. 1957) is an American artist with over 40 years of experience in the visual arts, as well as a strong background in classical music, particularly as a violinist. He received his early musical training at the prestigious Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music under the guidance of renowned cellist and conductor Pablo Casals. In 1972, he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, and in 1986 he received an honorary medal at the Mexico Biennale.
Figueroa continued his education at several distinguished institutions, including the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous exhibitions and biennials in countries such as Mexico, Brazil (São Paulo), Chile, Italy (Florence), and Japan (Tokyo). His works are held in major public and private collections, including: the São Paulo Museum of Art (Brazil); Museo de Arte Moderno, Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic); Museo Rufino Tamayo and Museo de Arte Moderno (Mexico City, Mexico); Museo de la Ciudad de Madrid (Spain); Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (Argentina); as well as UBS Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, Bacardi Corporation, and Citibank, among others.
