Svilen Stefanov

Svilen Stefanov (b. 1966, Sofia) is a Professor at the National Academy of Art in Sofia and holds a Doctor of Science degree. He is an artist, art historian, and art critic. Stefanov works primarily in the field of painting. He is the author of key publications on the history of Bulgarian contemporary art, including Avant-garde and Norm (2003) and Processes and Tendencies in Bulgarian Contemporary Art (Late 20th and Early 21st Century) (2014). Svilen Stefanov is one of the leading figures and ideologists of the XXL Group, founded in Sofia in 1994. He lives and works in Sofia and is exclusively represented by One Gallery, Sofia.
